Has anyone ever smogged a large streetport and passed? What did you do to make it work?

 

everyone's idea of large is different, some people port the primaries larger than the stock secondaries and double the size of the exhaust port with squared off edges... those are more of a race port, a large street port should pass fine with a good quality cat converter and fine tuned fuel system.

for example i built a third gen with a moderate street port, new main cat, no precat and tuned with PowerFC and it ran 2 Hc at idle and 1 at 2500RPMs, that is cleaner than it was when it rolled off the delivery truck 15 years ago.

unless you go drastic overkill on porting then it will not have a huge impact on emissions so long as everything is functioning well.

 

i dont know how much bigger the port is than a regular street port is by any measure. I know its not bridge port or anything like that.

 

how much of a guarantee is there on that working on a car thats from CA? We have strict smogg rule here. Lame

 

Second gens have the machanical smog pump. Dont third gens have an electronic version controled by the ecu?
