Wiper Problems

I brought a 90 vert a while back and have been trying to figure out a problem with the Windsheild wipers. They will not turn on at all yet the hazards and cruise in the same cluster do still work. I noticed that if a fuse is put in the 15A wiper spot that it blows as soon as the key is turned to the on position. So i put a small bulb in to replace the fuse and it always stays lit unless the joint connector D-05(connector the four blue colored wires together) is removed. I think I also noticed that the blower motor would then work too, but the wipers still wouldn't. Also if I jumper the L/R and L/W wires for the wipers to a power wire from something else they will work. I'm pretty sure I have a short to ground or short to another wire but I can'r figure out where. This car also has airbags. If anyone else has had this problem or could help me out I would realy appreciate it!

The wiper switches are known to crap out. There are three relays inside of the switch that fail. They can be replaced if you are handy at soldering, if not I would suggest sourcing a known good switch and swapping them out.

Search for Wiper Switch Repair if you are interested in repairing your switch, the three relays cost around $17.00, and I would recommend replacing all three while you are in there.

Got it figured out, looks like one of the previous owners had cut and spliced the wiring harness for the wipers and wired it up completely wrong!
