Is this part needed???

While working on my car I some how broke a nipple off on the back of the throttle body. do I need to fix this or can I just plug this. What exactly does this part do? One hose just plugs back into the upper intake, the other one go's to somthing that has to do with actual working of the throttle bodyName: 20150129_170705_zpseakth5sc.jpg

Yes, I believe you need that. It's the water thermo valve, it opens as the coolant temp increases. You should be able the buy it from Mazda

So what if I'm not running coolant through my upper Intake anymore? I guess I should have mentioned I have all emissions deleted/ block off plates.

Do know. You'll probably be experience so rough idle problems. See this thread

The funtion is to keep throttle partially open when cold to make the engine idle at 1500 slowly dropping 750 as the coolant flows thru and the motor warms.
Options
1. Leave it on but don't run coolant thru it. hot areas may heat it enough to drop the idle to ~1000.
2 .Remove it and ur car won't idle cold.. youll need to keep on the gas for a few minutes..??
3. Remove and set the stop screw high enough to idle cold.
4 replace it.. they cheap and plentyful.

f thevac lines are broke but not the coolant number 1. Doesn't apply.

As stated the vac leak wil cause a rough idle. But probably not too bad.
,
I've seen two valves one for cruise with 1 more vac nipple. One with out.. if my memory serves.. just cap the extra if u get the wrong one

To clarify, the water thermo valve has nothing to do with the 1500 RPM high idle. That is purely the thermowax acting on the cold start cam, and a little BAC valve.

The water thermo valve connects in series with the tertiary throttle plate vacuum actuator. It opens up when cold to allow vacuum to draw the plates closed, thus preventing the driver from going WOT. When it warms up, vacuum denied and the plates open. On the TII it's the opposite.

I appreciate the help, but I really haven't got a answer if I can remove this or not. A new one like $70 and it 2 weeks out.

Sorry I was speaking specificly of the thermowax.

You can remove it. Just loop the vacuum line from the original nipple to the double throttle vacuum actuator.

The only purpose it serves is to prevent drivers from going WOT when the engine is cold.

Just make sure that the tertiary throttle plates open up when you got WOT due to the lack of vacuum signal.

FYI, the training manual explains all these systems.
