That hood is pretty nice. I've got about a dozen ideas for my TII running through my head right now. I've never liked front mounts and the top mount is always going to get heat soaked. That leaves you with one option - a lot of custom fabrication.

RX-Heven - did the hood come with provisions for hood pins or is that something you did? I'd prefer to just use the stock latch - I've never liked hood pins either. I know a lot of aftermarket hoods use pins, so I have to ask.

IIRC it was just over $1200 shipped with a 10 week wait.

The hood latch fit perfectly but I have since removed it and now just rely on the pins.
I installed the hood pins and had to trim the lower edge of the leading lip to accomodate the Mazdacomp radiator. There would be no trimming involved if used with a stock radiator or one of similiar dimensions.

btw, I have NO more cooling issues during 20-30 minute track sessions with my 4" thick fmic after installing this hood. Quite simply, the air now has somewhere to go after passing through the radiator.
I do however also have some very nice ducting I fabricated below the ic in conjunction with a demonspeed splitter to provide fresh air to the oil cooler and radiator.

This hood IS NOT rain friendly fwiw. The opening is roughly 23" x 8-1/2"
The edge of the rear part of the opening is in front of the engine and accessories/pulleys so water will not drip on them when at a stop but I still won't drive the car in the rain.

I figured it wouldn't be rain friendly, but I was thinking of slapping a Vmount up against it *someday*. You know that day when I finally have my degree and actually get to spend some money and have some fun!

If I really wanted to get creative, I'd fab up some drain rails along the edge of the intercooler, and give the water a place to go. Well, enough dreaming for now.

One last thing - does anyone know why they have a second vent up towards the cowl?

Jerry

My V-mount is nearly finished. That's why that hood is so appealing to me. I wonder how much cheaper it would be for me to use an APO post office? I would really like to have that hood. I'm truly envious RX-Heven. Did you get yours from www.takakaira.com or no?

any pics of the under-car ducting? i'm currently working on something to lower my interstate cruising coolant temps (around 205 when its hot outside) and i need some creative ducting.
