Question painted down pipe?

Has anyone painted their down pipe with the high temp engine paint? How hot will the downpipe get?
Could I paint it with engine paint that will withstand 500` F?

If anyone has done this: What brand do you recommend, or how high of temp should it be able to withstand?

My mods are listed below if that will help you answer my question about how hot my car should get.

Thanks

Try more like 1800F paint. It will still probably burn off after a while.

I painted my NA exhaust with 1400 degree and it burned off within the first minute or two of the car running, now that is damn hot.

If you really want it painted, you need to get it professionaly coated. Jet Hot coatings has some very cool looking stuff - as do a few other places. I do not have the links bookmarked, so you will have to wait for someone else to post on this.

Dont expect Jet-Hots coatings to be too cool. Theyre dull, and limited colors. It is however, the best choice. I got mine coated for a reasonable price. Its good to 2000 degrees.

Give em a call, they'll mail you some cool **** for free.

If you just want to coat it to prevent rust or corrosion look at jcwhitney.com. They have some 2400 degree ceramic/stainless coating for pretty cheap. I think it's called Hot Stuff. I just used some on my mufflers where the $600+ dollar cat-back decided to start rusting. It's bright and shiny like newly cast iron or something .
