p/s computer warning, just make it stop!!!

i have a 87 n/a and i've done damn near everything i can think of to get this damn thing to stop beeping at me. i recently replaced the ring that drives the steering angle sensor and now when it starts beeping if i turn the wheel to the right more than 3/4 turn it'll stop...for a little while. i don't get it? i've even taken my wheel off and clocked the sensor even further clockwise and reinstalled the wheel twice now but the same thing always happens? the only thing i can think is my sensor ring has an open circuit at certain places? how do i just get rid of the beeping for f**k sake!?! i don't care about the computers function to lower or raise p/s fluid pressure. it always works just fine no matter beeping or not. can i just eliminate the variable pressure system all together and just run it like regular power steering? please help, i've searched and searched but it doesn't seem like anyone has eliminated this?

Are you familiar with the two arrows associated with the ring that you replaced that needs to be aligned before the steering wheel goes on?

check it for what? there's only one silver box i can find and its left of the column with a long "clear-ish" plug. its there, none of the wires seem to have bad connection or oxidation, bent, burns, nothing wierd? do these just fail? can i bypass the computer and just run full p/s pressure?

the arrows have been aligned every time i've reclocked the steering angle sensor and re-installed the steering wheel. i've also made note and aligned the two posted ring with the wider and narrower slots of the angle sensor.

like i said, it stops warning beeps when the wheel is turned past around the 5oclock position turning clockwise only. but will come back sometimes within 2-5 miles.

no, i don't have a spare. i have a feeling its the angle sensor cuz the guy i got the car from had a grant adapter on and no two pronged ring, who knows how many times that angle sensor could have been turned. is there a way to find the base setting? or is it one time use/install only?

i would try a different angle sensor. its not a clock spring, so you can turn it however you like, but i think it does output a sine wave, all the info is actually in the FSM.

also if you put the wheel on with the sensor lined up, and then the wheel isn't straight when you're driving, it might complain about that.

Or, unless you like to drive fast a lot.

86-88 all have the variable speed assist, so they all have the PS computer.

still haven't figured this out. i checked my steering angle signal to the computer. i checked and replaced the vehicle speed sensor in the cluster, i flushed my p/s system with new fluid, i checked power and ground, and it still comes on after 30 seconds of over 2500ish rpm it starts beeping five beeps and never stops.
