Overflow bottle question
Today as part of my tri-weekly checkup on my hibernating car, i checked the coolant filler neck and it was bone dry. I looked around for a bit and found that my overflow bottle had MORE coolant in it than before. The level in the overflow bottle used to be at the "full" line, and now its much much higher.
I figured that the engine would just such the extra coolant out of the overflow bottle anyway and started the car. Everythings going fine, i rev it pas 3800 to give my secondary injectors a work out, then to 5k for ***** and giggles. After this i get out and inspect the engine, and when i get back to the drivers seat the add coolant idiot light comes on. So i add coolant. The level in the overflow bottle never changed, and was still cold.
So wat do you guys think is going on? It smokes up on start up, but thats because it sits for about 3 weeks at a time. Thick, white pillowy smoke, kinda smells like coolant, but it only does this when its cold. I still have my cold start assist.
So my question is:
What would cause some of my coolant to get sucked into the overflow bottle while it was just sitting there?
And is this normal?
edit: Mind you that the last time i started up the car (approx. 3 weeks ago) i didn't check the coolant levels.

Are you actually driving the car or just doing this in the garage? Take it for drive if you want to check the cooling system. It needs to be hot before you can tell if it's working properly.
The ADD COOLANT light tells you the radiator is low, not the overflow bottle.
The secondary injectors only come on under load, so free-revving the engine won't do a thing for them.
Also you should never rev an engine past ~3000rpm until is has warmed up.

I know the add coolant light tells me that the rad is low...my question was actually why my overflow bottle is more full than it should be. Eh it was probably a stupid question anyway.

Something else to check is the hose from the radiator to the overflow bottle. May be cracked & fluid will go from rad to overflow bottle but as engine cools, it will just suck air back through cracks in hose.
