Over heat question.

Ok, I have burped the cooling system, installed a radiator shroud, and have made sure everything is running smoothly. When my car warms up, it gets to just a tad over halfway then goes back down. This is bothering me because I know that is a dangerous spot to be on the temp gauge. At night it never really gets over half unless I am driving REALLY hard. Does anyone have any thoughts about the cause for this?

P.S. I will be ordering an OEM thermostat from Mazda tomorrow just in case.

right there with ya....ordering the oem, as well. I'm puting an After Market 180 deg thermo on until that shows up, and i'll see if that does anything about it.

Try the fan clutch?

Beyond that i am clueless. If you manage to fix it, please stay in touch. If she wasn't so fun to drive, she's be long gone.

Fan clutch looks good. The shroud is on right so I know I am pulling air through it. My only guess is thermostat.

Any other info from other people?

I don't know, I bought it from someone that knew about RX7's so I am assuming it is OEM.

But you never know. I guess I'll just replace it with an OEM to be safe.

You said installed the radiator shroud. What about the lower one. It forces more air up into the rad.

Sounds like a sticking thermostat issue.
