Options with the racing beat header
Options with the racing beat header
If I order the racing beat header for my 90 GTU, is there any other place i can buy a pipe to go from the header to the y-pipe instead of using their presilencer which is more than the freakin header itself? I dont think any of the muffler shops around here would touch that kind of job.
have them make a pipe. measure the distance, hae a flange thrown on each end. Don't tell them what it's for, and they shouldn't ask. If they do, it's for a tractor or something.
Street legal or emissions passing? Definitely two different animals.
I know that Mazdatrix sells a really expensive cat that attaches to the RB header. Its that gray area exhaust that they sell. Definitely way too expensive.
Most shops WILL install a custom cat if you ask them. Its the test pipe that they try to avoid for legality reasons.
I say drive around with an open header and visit several shops. Most will be more than willing to make a pipe with a cat for ya. Bring ear plugs.

bonez makes high flow cats that the rx7 won't burn up. i know rx7.com carries them. if you have an exhaust shop around im sure they can connect a cat to your system for you.
if you look you'll find a place that will do work of a "questionable" nature for you. a shop "uninstalled" the cat on a car for me in favor of a straight pipe. the guy i asked was the shop owner and i had to pay in cash. he said if i had asked one of the regular workers they woulda told me no though...not sure if that will help you but there you go

When I had headers I still kept the cat. (1 day a year!) Just a little flange welding to make it fit. Straight pipe was cheap and easy to make. That car always passed emissions testing.
