sorry to push this thread up from the death

but i have RIGHT in this moment the same problem

i've removed the 12mm bolts all around, i've removed the big nut where the driveshaft bolts to the diff but i only can manage to open the housing 1 or 2mm...

it seems that the output shafts are also going op and down when i try to pull the housing from the other...

i've checked the FSM and they said that i have to remove the little shafts where the drifeshafts are conecting with 2 large prie bars... is this the way to go?

Did you remove the L&R drive shaft flanges?

Rent, beg, borrow or steal (jk) a puller. Don't wanna be banging on it too much. Become a good friend to a local mechanic, or give him some Euros ($$$).

Don't worry about reviving a four year old thread. It shows you searched.

You just pry them out with a pry bar. They usually come out fairly easily.

It's not the vibrations that knock it out it's re-aligning the stub shaft that lets it pop out while it's under pressure. You're prying from offcenter and jamming things together. When you give it a whack from the otherside from where you are prying, it momentarily lines everything back up as well as giving a shock.

Just a thought though and not to be a dick. But if you're haveing a lot of trouble removing stub shafts, maybe setting up a diff is a little beyond your abilities. It would be cheaper to pay someone to do it once rather than pay for all new bearings, seals, ring, pinions, etc etc... or even a bone stock diff and a new torsen. Just a thought though.

so, finally it poped out

@titanium

dont bother, i've rebuilded several engines (otto) and done a lot of work on cars... (our skyline R33 gts-t's, Subaro Impreza, my FC's, FD from a good friend etc. etc.)

i've also swapped internals from diferent BMW's... but there you don't have to remove the driveshaft flanges

this little sucker just wont get out... it was the luckiest moment of the month when it jumped out i will post pics later
