Only Hits 4000 Rpms Im In Dire Need Of Help
my 1988 rx7 n/a will only hit 4000 rpms and it smells like gas outside the car ive tried every thing i dont know what to do no one near me will work on a rotary and if i can figure out whats wrong with it i can do it myself

Does it rev up to 4K and then seemingly hit a brick wall? My car did that because the catalytic converters were clogged up. I replaced them and it went away.
Also, it might be the 3,800 rpm hesitation. You can do a search for "3,800 rpm hesitation" and get a lot of results.

If it is the RPM hesitation, it's an easy enough fix. Usually the grounds need to be cleaned. Check the 2nd gen FAQ and do a CTRL-F for "hesitation".

I too had the catalytic converters clog up and cause my car to not rev above 4,000. I used it as an opportunity to buy a Racing Beat downpipe and pre-silencer. Mine did not smell like gas though outside the car.
