OMP blocked off... kinda

After removing my OMP, I made a blockoff plate and during the process of bolting on the plate, one of the bolt heads broke off from the thread and I won't be able to get it out. Since my blockoff plate is only held by one bolt and gasket-maker, would leaking oil be a problem? Is the default for that internal screw to start oil flow into the OMP in the OFF position?

Thanks,
Glen

It will leak. It is fed under oil pressure, and regulated by the pump.
Look at page 70 in the hayes to see what I mean.

Any broken bolt can be removed. Drill it with a reverse bit, and then use an EZ-out, or tap it.

if the block-off plate he made was of a decent thickness... couldn't he just unbolt the other bolt, and put a pair of vice-grips on it? That is, unless he made the block-off plate out of sheet metal (I always use 1/8 aluminum)

Ok... that may be the source of my oil leak problem then. I'll try to drill the bolt out first, but it seems like a bitch-of-an-area to get a drill into, unless maybe if I use a dremel. I made the blockoff plate from 1/4 aluminum, so I can also try the vise-grips if the drill won't fit. Thanks!

Why not just take the plate off, then put the vice grips on the *now* ¼" of bolt sticking out???

L.A.: Oh, haha, now I know what you mean. At first, I thought you had meant to clamp the blockoff plate on there really tight to prevent leakage. Now, I know that you mean to unbolt the broken bolt. Hopefully, where it broke off is close to the bolt-head. Thanks.
