No7Yet - There is hope for the younger drivers and its you. You sound like a smart kid with your head screwed on sraight. Hats off to your parents for raising a kid with some respect and smarts which is hard to do these days but not impossible.

There is no such thing as "Safe". Safety is merely danger out of place, and can be used in contrast with something else. It can not stand by itself. All racing has some degree of danger. heck getting out of bed could be construed as dangerous. It's up to the responsible adult to make the proper judgement. there are certain people i wouldn't race because they can not control their car in a fashion that i would deem safe. Obviously they do, since they race. that's just my perogative.

Wow, I feel exactly the same way, but you did a damn good job of putting it into words.

Stupidity doesn't care how old you are. I know 16 year olds that are very responsible drivers and I know 50 year olds that are very irresponsible drivers. This is not an age issue. How ironic would it be if you were just driving home from the store and some crazy *** comes around the corner at 100 mph and you end up with no legs. I bet your outlook would change.

Everytime i read one of DC350's post i feel ashamed. just another kid who's watched the fast and the furious one too many times. im only 18, so im not one of the "old farts" who thinks street racing and drifting whenever possible is retarded. i raced a guy on the freeway when i first got my car, and after the race i realized how stupid it was, because had i gotten caught, there is no way i would be driving my 7 today. i guess that gives some people a rush, but it gave me a huge sense of dread about ever doing something like that again. i also used to race people at stoplights in my town, but ive had too many close calls with the cops and accidents while doing that to consider doing that again. why endanger your life or even your car by messing around on the street? empty parking lots are one thing, but on a public road where anything could happen are a whole different thing. i consider myself lucky because i havent gotten caught or wrecked my car. i thought my car was sooooo fast when i got it, and i wanted to show people how fast it is. then i grew up and realized that i dont need to prove anything to all the thugs revving at me at stoplights. im better than that now. i dont even look over at some douche who's trying to get me to race. maybe "save it for the track" is getting a little old, but its some good advice. maybe you think 30 bucks is too expensive to go get a few runs in at the drag strip. well maybe you should just hold off buying that new exhaust tip or windshield wiper lights. grow up and try to stop making the 7 look so bad.

Your whole post is filled with whining, who are you trying to BS?

like how every time there is a acedent its a kid, were i race old people are there with their cars, some being new hondas some being old muscele cars, dont assume that your olders that your a better driver, its dangerous but its ganna happen there isnt anything you can do about t, stop trying to say

Wah. 'I'm a young guy who thinks I know how to drive my car better than everyone who trying to come down on me'. Wah.

That way, when you wind up in the news either dead or mangled, the only thing to feel sorry for is your own family.

The only way I'm going to end up dead or mangled is if some dumbshit 17 year old kid who thinks he knows how to drive ends up t-boning my *** thru an intersection. Jeez man, you've been driving a year? 2? You haven't seen anything yet. So you can drift your car a bit around the corner, what are you going to do when you hit a patch of ice on the inside of the corner? How about if the rear tire goes down from running over a nail and you skid at a poor stupid bystander? You don't know jack **** yet.

show me a place in syracuse NY thats has a track, i dont wan a stip b/c in my mind thats not driving. If its a fair distance and cheep ill give up street racing...heh yeah right

Ooooh, such a display of bravado... Yet as Go Speed said, it took a few moments of searching to find places for you to go. But you won't, will you? Wah wah... and wah.

Now, if I wanted to be a ****.. I'd mention something about the quality of english skills our public schools are turning out. But that would be, being a ****.

You CAN'T give advice on somebody's driving. This seems to be the most sacred of all things to most people. If somebody gets advice, it'll **** them off with a quickness. Everybody thinks they are a great driver just because they haven't killed anybody yet or have a rap sheet a mile long. It's just one of those things.
What kind of crap is this? Obviously this shows you've never been a part of any real racing. People give advice on driving all the time. If I never listened to any advice at the autocross or the drag strip, I'd be the world's worst race driver for the rest of my life. People give tips constantly at the autocross, that's one of the best things about it. Making yourself a better driver.

And there are countless track days and driving seminars throughout the country where you spend time on a real race track and an instructor goes with you to give you (gasp!) advice on how to become a better driver.

If you ever want to be better at anything, you have to listen to people's advice. Take a lesson in humility.

For the record, I'm 19.

Well, I can't say much more than has been said already...a few days I wrote a post which was a bit over the top, against the street racers, so I'll try to correct myself now.

First of all, I'm not some old geezer, but a 19-year old kid (well...adult I guess ). I've been driving for about 4 years now, 3 by myself. I can't say I've seen losts of bad stuff on the roads compared to some older people here but I've seen enough. Or at least, enough to draw the conclusion that real street racing doesn't pay off. You will eventually not only hurt yourself and your car, but also an innocent bystander. I personally couldn't live with myself knowing that I killed a kid crossing the road because I was paying too much attention to the car beside me.

Now, like a few people said so far, what most people here refer to when they say street racing isn't an occasional 0-40 run between two traffic lights or driving a bit faster on a mountain road. Street racing is actual racing on the street. Going as fast as possible to beat another car. You may think when you're racing that you're also watching what's going on around you, but it's not that easy doing that while driving at the limit and keeping one of your eyes on the competitor. Basically, it's a recipe for disaster.

What pisses me off so much about this is the lack of need for street racing. Why exactly would you want to do it if you have a track less than an hour away from you? It brings up the insurance rates. Tracks are getting closed because people would rather bullshit their way through a street race than pay $20 for a night of real drag racing. Or $20 for a full day of autocrossing. At street races, the only peole you can meet are guys like Stepdaddy, while at legal races you meet real racers. People with experience with cars, with driving them...and they're actually willing to share it without a need to bullshit about anything. It just makes no sense. Would you rather go to an unorganized illegal drags full of idiots talking smack about eachother, or would you rahter go to an organized race and hang out with real car enthusiasts?

Going around calling me a **** is supposed to make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside?

Look, I don't know you from a fire hydrant. I could care less what you do (as long as you're 3000 miles away from me ). If you want to street race, go ahead.

But stop expecting us to approve and understand what you do.

DC350,

from the first post you ever had i havnt liked you and it is because of your juvenile, cocky attitude about you and your car, remember when you tried to tell everyone what they could post in "your" thread.

it isnt about age, its about maturity and you dont quite have it. i am 19 and been driving for almost 5 years. there was a point when i squeeled my tires around every turn i came to. and did a burn out at every stop sign. you know what i achieved by doing that, higher insurance and lots of new tires. i will and do "get on it" but only when the only person in danger is me and myself. street racing isnt neccesarily a bad thing if you take it where there is no danger of hurting anyone but yourself. but my money says that, if you and those like you cant find a deserted place to race, that isnt gonna keep you from getting your fix. you and your buds will race and you might not hurt anyone, you might not die in a car crash. but many, who could drive circles around you and make your car look like a grocery cart, have died behind the wheel.

fortunately they werent stupid enough to race on the streets and take people with them.

this is how your post should read....

You know one thing i truely hate about this forum? If the peopl that own RX-7's that have lost their youthful immaturity. Doin a drift is not safe, power sliding is not safe take it to the track. I am making this forum because i have been flamed numeroues times by "the experienced drivers" i can totally see the people that are like "yeah be a dumbass" "do stupid ****" all that. But all the people that reply about being dangerous, and nicker at me for posting? dont post on stuff which you are going to say intelligent things. Really if it's a whole bunch of intelligent people, other wise dont tell me its dangerous, because i am going to be an idiot anyways.

you will hopefully grow up one day,

Justin

This is, of course, in and of itself, an opinion.. You young street racers posted it here, so I'm replying here. I'd hate to think other impressionable 17 year old kids think that we all like street racing.

Its our life we will live it how we want and what you have to say will not affect how i drive or where i drive. Its useless to flame street racing so dont ******* post it.

True, except hopefully, one impressionable 17 year old kid will be saved by not listening to absolutely idiotic arguments from 17 year old wannabe racers like yourself. Fortunately, as this thread shows, youth does not necessarily mean lack of wisdom. Only in a few cases, such as.. yourself!

If we want to hear your opion on street racing we will ask for it.

Wah. And it's opinion. You guys go to the same highschool or what?

PS maybe some of us dont want to pay $30 to make 3 ******* runs and maybe some of us dont havea track to go race at.

You're not going to make me bust out www.scca.org again are you? I'd figure you'd have learned from the other guy.

Norice RX-7 shut up kid, your just posting so you can be with the other people that hate me. You dont even know if i have seen the freakin movie. By the meaning of this post, I Meant READ EVERYTHING B4 you post, how do you know i street race threw new york citys times square? Or on some deserted road. I do agree racing where people just step out on the street and get creamed is brutal. Especially you reted. You sure dissed me, how do you know that i am immature? how can people critisise when they dont even know who i am? I am the most mature out of probably everyone i know. You think i am stupid, well i sure look like an *** people totally turned this post around. how do you know that i am racing in a crowded urban areas full of people. OF COURSE NOT. Apparently you allll think i do. thats why i am getting flamed. And you RX-7 Impreza, the reason you dont like me is because you flamed at me when i was doing a fine post. Then i get mad at you. I do not think the one that is immature. All i want to learn about is cars. do you think that i floss my car? Man, i barely drive my car, when i do it's great fun. you know the saying...take it to track? I DONT HAVE one, well i do, buts it's a big oval, what can you get accomplished there. Retred your a really nice guy, it hurts me when i read you think i am dumb and you dont care if i died. Your one of the guys that i respect the most. Why do the "'ol folks" have to come into my post about what i could try to beat in a race. i didn't even do anything wrong. I am merely saying that i am going to race on this highway with a pair of stop lights that is deserted after 9:00pm, whats dangerous about that? LIke someone said in this post "getting out of bed can be congured as dangerous" thats true, risks in life are fun, life is a risk and a rush. I dont have a track so i will do it on the deserted highway. Not the urban areas which all of you mostly interpert as...."he's another one of those kids going to kill a pregnant lade and run over kids" Yes, maybe on the outside i do look like a kid that has seen the fast and the furious to many times. Do you think that i ever dreamed of racing cars before i saw that movie? Of course i did. I love racing anyone, no matter if it's a neon, or a ferrari, i love driving. Period. and i am sure you do. I dont have enough spare time on my hands to go to jail for racing in a populated area. And i do not lack the brains to tell if that is not stupid. If you dont even approve of racing on a deserted highway? then you dont deserve the internet lettalone the support and respect of others. Obviously i dont have any left. and yes i will stop trying to say F word.

Before this goes on any further...&nbsp I think all you folks who are getting angry and red-faced from reading all of this should BACK AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER AND GO TAKE A WALK.

If this is insulting you, you need to get away from the computer.&nbsp THIS MEANS YOU DC350.&nbsp You really think you can post crap and get away with negative comments?&nbsp You're stepping on toes here.&nbsp Yes, you've stepped on mines to.&nbsp You better get it clear in my head that what you said made me send a reply.&nbsp There's a reason why I posted what I said - maybe you should go reread what you posted.&nbsp If you can't comprehend the situation, you are in way over your head...

That's all I got to say, period.

Sigh...
You know you're old when you still concider anyone under 25 as being a kid....
Why will a 2nd gen rx7 never be regarded as a true sports car? because 90% of the people who own them are in the same age bracket as the kids who buy and rice up honda and acura's ... seriously.. how can other drivers take a car as a serious peice of machinery when most of the time they see teenagers buying them, drive like idiots and then blow their motors or crash them..one of the reasons why an FC will never appreciate in value.. they are too kid racerish..

I know.. this has nothign to do with the topic.. I just started feeling old.. that's all..
