Okay injector time. Need input please

I did a little searching on the subject, but the word "injector" comes up in every 5th post it seems.

I have been thinking 850cc secondaries. I want as much safe fuel as possible. Take a look at my mods and please make suggestions on the size I should go with. I want to be happily safe, lots of power looking for ~350HP at some point. But I don’t want a setup that is WAY to hard on my engine .. That will lower its life extremely.

Can 3rd Gen 850’s be put in 2nd Gen secondary positions? Also, many moons ago I was looking on the web for injectors. I found a place that you ship your stock injectors too and they “bore then out” or something and bump them up to whatever you want within reason. Anyone have links to one of these places that is reputable?

I am keeping most all my stock items for this car to pass smog every 2 years.. So I do not really want to mess with my primary injectors. So I need to get all the power I can out of my secondairies. 720 cc install seem to be cheap & easy .. but according to a HP/Fuel estimator I was looking at, it not going to give my the power I eventually want to reach..

Thanks for the input.

550cc primaries (stock) are fine.
850, 1000, 1200cc secondaries depending on your boost/hp level. I'd go wtih 1000cc's.

Where can i get 1000cc injectors? Will they fit in the stock spot? I don't really want to do fuel rails or anything like that.. and what about impedance? I'm planning to boost in the 10-12 range.

I'm not too sure about if they fit or where you can get them. If you are boosting 10-12 psi, then 850cc injectors should be plenty. I heard there are also some 720cc injectors in GSL-SE 1st gens which will fit.

Ya, I can get 720's from almost any RX place, also 1600's I'm kinda looking for a happy medium. With the right impedance.. I would really like to send mine off to get modded, but im not sure how reputable or accurate those places are. And I can't locate the page I was looking at that had that info

Anyone know if the 3rd gen 850's will plug in?

Okay I did some web hunting and decided; I need top feed High impedence injectors. The 850cc 3rd Gen's are Side feed (not gonna work) The 1600cc Bosch injectors are more fuel than I want & require a modified fuel rail. Does anyone know who sells, or makes 'top feed High impedence injectors' in the 850-1200cc range? I can't find them anywhere. I did find that blitz makes top feed 850cc low impedence injectors (but that will require me rewiring some resistors & such, I don't really want to do that unless I have too)

So in closing for now. Please PM me, or post here if you know anyone who makes what I am looking for, or who enlarges stock injectors.

Thx alot.

The 850's from an FD wont work as they are side feed. Try RC Enginerring for some 1000 cc injectors.

Also, Im running 10 psi on 720 secondaries with no problems, if that matters at all. Ive heard they are good for 350 hp with the right combo of air/ fuel.

A boost target is irrelevant because the amount of power you get for a certain boost level depends on the turbo.

A boost target is irrelevant because the amount of power you get for a certain boost level depends on the turbo, so you need a power target. The 550/720 combo is enough for a safe 340hp, four 720's are good for 385hp. If you can find 1000cc/min injectors for the secondaries, that'll be good for 415hp with the stock primaries. These are all at a max duty of 80%, and don't forget you'll definitely need a bigger pump.
If properly tuned (you'll need some kind of fuel control anyway), larger primaries shouldn't affect emissions. Don't worry about using low-impedance injectors; wiring 10ohm resistors inline with one of the wires is about five minutes work.

Right on, great info. Where do I get the 10 Ohm resistors? when I order the injectors... or from like a hardware/electonics store? Where inline do I wire them? I assume I put them on the "hot" wire? I know very little about fuel injection, sorry.

If you get the injectors from a specialist (like RC Engineering), they’ll probably be able to sort you out, or at least advise you. Otherwise any electronics store.

Doesn’t matter. Resistance in series is added, so the ECU won’t know the difference.

This article’s pretty basic, but it’s a good start.

How Fuel Injection Works
