ok, yet another exaust question...
ok. ive got a full stock setup exept for the cat back. unknown brand but makes for a real nice deep rumble not high pitched import sounding at all. but im gonna remove the cats and go with rb duals. my question is should i go y pile or true dual? i wand a deeper sound and great proformance and at the same time i dont want it to be instant ticket loud. few mods. s5 engine with ca intake and removed emissions thats about it.
and to the first person planning to say SEARCH screw off, i did, but its not too helpful when you dont know your catback brand

With the N/A's, exhaust tuning is very important. I believe that you should have a collected header, then y-pipe. I believe that the exhaust works similar to the Intake. Mazda made the intake so that when the intake port is sealed off, the pressure wave bounces back and travels back through the intake into the DC and then back down into the other intake port to "supercharge" the other rotors intake pulse, improving volumetric efficiency. With the exhaust, you kind of want the same thing. Not exactly the same, but it's like you want the two rotors to compliment each other, not separate them. It's the same tuning pricipal that 2-stroke motors use. If i knew more, i'd sell it.

this is controversial but.. i'd say go with the true duals... i've already had arguements about it, and i honestly like them better. but thats just me. true duals are loud though. and you can hear the sound of each rotor. which is pretty awesome i think.
I have a full RB set up with Magna Flow cans and I am very happy with it. I did the research for true duals vs the RB or similar set up and I decided that for the extra cost and extra weight the minimal hp gains of the true dual just weren't worth it for me. You gain so much just by getting rid of that crappie stock ex mani that you will be happy with whatever you decide. If you [i]need[/n] every bit of power, then the true duals may be for you, and they do sound awesome, but for a street car that isn't going for every last hp and has to keep cost as a factor I would recomend the full RB set up or full RB and different cans.
