ok just changed radiator caps and coolant still spills out of the resevoir
what would cause this other than rad caps??? when I had my pressure cap (from autozone) I could release the pressure from the rad cap however instead of flowing back into the resevoir it would come out of the spill tube??? I have the same cap on my 94 passport and when I release the pressure it goes back into the resvoir while none comes out of the spill tube. Could it be the tank itself?

spill tube??? You mean the overflow tube of the over flow tank???
And I don't undertsand at all what you mean about releasing the pressure. You mean opening the cap???
And the 88 uses two different caps, are you sure you didn't mix them.

yeah the overflow tube. and the caps I got where (h) on http://www.mazdatrix.com/b8.htm website. When I say release the pressure I mean you know those caps you can get at autozone that have the red lever you can pull that releases the pressure....that.

either the caps you have are bad or its running hot and boiling over.

I'm with j9fd, put a freakin' Mazda cap on there, man...
And let me get this straight- you're losing coolant from the radiator to the overflow tank, and it's not being sucked back in on cooldown, right?

ok first of all, hondahater, you and i are completely on the same page here....and i think have been for some time now. and well one of the things that i notice is that when (as mentioned above) when pressure is released(small amount) threw the lower rad cap coolant goes spewin from overflow tank....this is becuase ( i think) when the the pressurized coolant reaches apmospheric tempuratures, it expands like no other. just like if you took that thing completely off. Better yet, take a deep sea diver when he is submerged 1 mile down in the water his body and everything else becomes pressurized. and if he were so surface quickly, he would explode...the same concept applies here i believe. so it is possible to say, that there may a very small leak...as mention many times by other people, either in the tubing, caps, or the rad it self.
what i did was, since the block to uim coolant tube is a major BITCH... i disided to grap some screw clamps and make SURE there was no problem with it. i even pulled it out, inspected it for leaks or holes, and reinstalled with the clamps.
after i bought a new, used oem rad cap. havent had as many problems so far. however periodicly i do get a very short coolant buzzer indicating boiling bubbles hitting the thermo sensor.
that leads me to the theory of the water pump bearing seal going bad. but not enough information on that yet....im going to try a few different rad caps. try some new hoses, see what happens. record it and ill keep you guys posted

well you should say that it is pushed out at cool down for some wacky reason. then it just kinda stops....that my case though i dont know about hondahater

Is that Arabic? Doesn't look like English to me, lol...
What you're showing us is the normal flow path of hot, pressurized coolant overflowing due to a full tank. If the tank is not "giving up" some of the coolant back to the rad during cooldown, then you have a bad cap, or a leak in the system allowing external air to defeat the vacuum of the system...

If it's still leaking that long after shutdown, your cap isn't sealing properly. My guess...
Check the mating surfaces of the cap & radiator neck seat...

You can try it, but still the fact remains- if you're pissing coolant after shutdown, especially HOURS after shutdown, then your rad cap is not seating properly...
Or maybe I'm not following the Arabic as well as I should.

lol do you need a refresher course in Arabic??? Hey I got a question though. There are two nozles on the reservoir lid, witch one goes to the rad and witch one to spill over? I think I found the problem. After studying this thing for about 2 seconds I found that the longer nozzle when blown into goes out the bottom hose however the small one goes all over the place. I had the radiator connected to the small one. I'll see if this works.

IIRC, the tab on the cap faces aft, and the overflow from the rad comes into the left nipple, and the bottle overflow nipple is on the right. All directions are facing the car from the hood release area.

yeah man get your *** out side and get soaking wet for my trivial problem Ya'll must be in the same storm we are in. Your car isn't in the garage man? hehe.
