Unhappy Oil Smell

Has anyone have an idea where a oil smell can be coming from when you turn on your heater. I notice it really bad when the car is idiling in a still position. As soon as you take off, it seems to go away some. I started the engine yesterday with the hood up and looked around and could smell it but could not find the source of it. Any ideas?

I replaced them. I think the oder is coming from the motor thru the vents. If I leave the heater fan off the oder does not get into the car..

Next time you park your car, drive it over newspapers or large piece of cardbord spread on the ground. Oil will eventually drip. Might give you a general area where to look.

my car has a nasty oil leak comming from the oil pan, you can only see it if you look underneath the car, check that before anything, it could have splashed a bit onto your exhaust because it's right next to it, i believe you can only see the oil pan from the passangers side of the car aswell....

While your under the car check your oil cooler lines too. sometimes that oil can splash back to your exhaust and cause some smoking.

I'll look tonight for an oil leak near the exhaust. I already checked for oil leaks over the week end. I parked it in the garage. I did not have any oil puddles on the garage floor. Weird how we think. I thought of most of this. I did not check to see of it is leaking on the exhaust though...
