overheating issue ?

ok last night after the car sat al day, i turned it on and started to drive it. now the temp outside is about -5 to 5 degrees outside. but i watched the temp guage go towards the H so i pulled over and poped the hood. no smoke nothing.l i touched the radiator and ti was cold touched the rubber hose ghoing to the block and it was hot. opened i opened both at a time and the fluid wanted to come out so there was pressure built up. at the same time tyhe oil pressure was dropping to 30 and a bit below while i was letting it idle. after letting the car cool of for about 15 min i turned it back on and drove it fine no overheating nothing. same **** happened again this morning. i turned the car and let it idle for a bit. then i stared to drove not even 2 min later it started to get hot. i pulled over turned it of for about 15 min turned it back on and it was fine again. its really weird.

if the heater blower motor is not working could taht cause it ?

i havent had the radiotor flushed yet from summer. could some water be left in ther and frezze up? could that cause it ?

any help would greatly be appreciated.

i will get the radiator flushed tonight. can that be done without bein able to adjust tyhe heat speed? though i read you have to have it on full blast .

i do have a new thormostat in there that was put in about a month a go .

its a 87 N/A auto incase that info is needed.

not sure if this will help but , when its cold and i start the car the rev up to 3000 is not there. sometimes it is but most of the time its no. also last few days i have noticed that when first starting the car is going rum rum rum. and sounds a bit like its back firing. small pops but no flames.

Bad thermostat likely. The cold upper hose indicates that coolant is not circulating.

If the water froze in the rad, it will have spilt the radiator. Should be obviousl.

Your problem is text book thermostat failure.
