Question Oil sensor?

OK I have been having trouble with a buzzer going off all the time. It is not the rev buzzer or the coolant buzzer(already flushed and got rid of the bubbles). I have enough oil in the car the oil level (when cold) is above the full mark( always use 6 quarts of oil. Is this bad?) so the sensor is iether fucked up or somthing is blocking it or I don't know. I need to know where it is located. How to replace it. Where to get a replacement.

Thanks

Unplug the oil level sensor and see if it stops. If that does not work, unplug the water level sensor, and on that one, ground it by any method you want. That's all the water level sensor does....makes a ground for no buzz and when it does not make a circuit...buzzzz.

k

The coolant sensor is in the middle on the top of the radiator.

The oil sensor is on the side of the oil pan? two wires on it I think?

Yeah. On top of the radiator is the coolant sensor. It has a bullet connector. Just pull it apart and ground the part from the harness. Will not hurt a darn thing. Actually I've played a bit with this outfit once. I took the sensor out of the radiator. Turned the key to on. Buzzzzzzzzzz after a given time. Took the wire and submerged it in the radiator water. Buzzz gone. Lift out. Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Took the wire from the harness and put it to ground. Stop buzzz. Some type thermistor I suppose.

The oil level sensor is on the left side of the pan. It's held on the pan by three 10mm size bolts. Has a two pin, white connector. Actually only one wire in the two pin plug. Just pull the white connector apart. No possibility of that giving you a buzzz in that condition.

Just in case........about the radiator. You can fill the filler neck up and top it off, but what happens is that there is air trapped in the top of the radiator header, where the water sensor is. If that sensor is not covered in water....buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. So Mazda made a bleed plug on the right side of the radiator. Plastic, phillips head, approx the size of a nickel. You pull that plug out, fill at the fill port until water flows out the bleed plug, and then while water flows, put the plug back in and complete filling the filler neck. Now it's bleed and the sensor is covered in water, which in turn means the buzzzzzzz will not happen as long as the sensor is covered in water making a circuit for the water sensor.
Whew!

Why do you overfill your oil...I don't know exactly how oil gets through the engine aside from the injection, but you could airate the oil by overfilling it. I would keep it to 5 quarts.

The reson I did that is because I usually drive hard and waste more oil than if I were driving "nicely" I guess next oil change will not be 6 but 5 quarts maybe that is doing it.

Thanks for the help guys.

yeah, do not overfill your oil... it will lead to other problems, like oil being shot up things that shouldn't be filled with oil or in the case of piston engines, it will actually rob HP by the crank sloshing through the oil.

Oooops. You misunderstood me. First, the water sensor. Really. Ground the wire to the chassis or the battery ground. If the buzzz ceases, then that's the item that's bad. You can prove that is the item by taking the sensor out. Fill the water to the top of the radiator. Turn the key to ON. The buzzer will buzz. Now put the sensor in the water(wire still connected). Did the buzzer stop?>? If it did, the sensor is good.

The oil level sensor. Pull the plug. Did that stop the buzzzz? Can't buzz and can't be the sensor is it's disconnected.

Parts available at the wreck yard or new at Mazdatrix .

Update:

I was under my car yesterday and noticed that the oil sensor was not pluged into the wires. I pluged it back in and no more buzzing.
