oil pressure worries?

hey guys.. my oil pressure has been concerning me lately.. just wondering if i should be worrying or not...
when i start my car in the morning, and i let it warm up, and then start driving.. the highest the oil pressure goes is a few millimetres above"4"
this is a s4 NA
and then, after a while.. it goes up to just under "8"
it normally then stays around just under 8
my question is...why does it start at "4" ,and then slowly work its way up to "8"
this is of cource at regular driving conditions... it ofcourse drops of when i slow down to a stop...
any ideas? or is this normal?
p.s.my oil level is great, and it doesn't have any leaks,.

What weight oil are you running and how cold is it outside? Most people worry when the oil pressure goes down too far after warm-up.

Well since I'm a Yank and relate in fahrenheit, 8c is near 50f, and if that is the high for the day, then it might be time to switch to 10w40.
