Hi all

Minutes ago, i start my 1990 TurboII and the oil pressure pointer died... the engine looks normal, i just ride some Kms and it seems fine, but the pressure gone down below zero, and it doesn't move. With the engine running or not the pointer don't move at all.......

Anyone help? It happen to anyone before? Some valve KO?

Yah, sounds like the sensor died or became unplugged.

its not bad to drive the car like that but, if something does go wrong( like if you blow an oil cooler line) you won't have any idea, because your oil pressure gauge doesn't work.

Sorry... my english is bad...

I'm trying to say that... is it possible that the pointer indicate that someting is wrong with the engine? If the pointer doesn't move at all and the engine is runing fine, i'm affraid that without notice i blow the engine by running in that situation.

Hey Wiseman...if you havent already then you should get the FSM (factory shop manual) ...download it...and start doin some basic checks of all systems.

For your oil pressure could just be a loose or bad electrical connection...check FSM it shows you the connection etc plus a whole lot more.

The wire has fallen off the sensor. Reinstall the wire to the sensor. Left side of the engine. Below the oil filter is the location of the oil pressure sensor.

I had the same problem too, Icemark told me to start up the car and have someone
tap the sensor with a screw driver while i sat in the car to see if the needle jumped, sure enough it did, and found out it was just a sensor problem. So i just bought an after market autometer gauge. Hope that helps.

The links to the download are on this site and found in the thread called FAQ. The Electrical section shows how to determine if the gauge is reading right by attaching resistors of different values to the sender units single connector. Different value resistors will make the gauge read different values. Most of the time the single connector on the sender has fallen off.

Stuck at work is a good time to check out the Factory Service Manual listed in the FAQs at the top of this forum

Either way, I'm assuming you know where the oil filter is. Immediately underneath the oil filter is a mushroom-shaped gold-colored sensor sticking out of the engine block, it's about 2 inches in diameter. That's the oil sender, there will be one wire coming out of it.. check to see how the connection is to that, take it apart and clean it, etc.

Good luck
