oil pressure problem

So the guage will go to about 30 when starting and then go to 0. I checked it with a mechanical gauge and shows around 75 since I have oil pressure mods done, which is what it should show. I changed the sender and the same thing. Have there been problems with the actual cluster? I'd rather not try to take it out if not needed, but will if I need to. There is just the one yellow/red wire that goes to it, so is there any kind of resistance check to do?

I get the same thing...maybe I should take a aftermarket gauge to it too.

My buddy had that same problem, but it was fixed when he replaced the sender.... maybe time to go aftermarket.

i was JUST about to post a thread about this, i just got mine checked out since it was staying at about 30psi, then dropping just under 15 at idle, then slowly dropping to what seemed like no psi. so i got it checked out by a friend since ive been at work a lot recently. he said it was going up like normal when he did a test on it, but i still seemed like the numbers he told me were a little low ( i think he said it went to about 65psi). i guess i might just have to go for the aftermarket gauges now

The FSM has a procedure where you put a resistor of a given resistance on the output wire of the sender, then gnd the other end of the resistor. The gauge then rises to a set value. If it does not, then the gauge is at fault. If it does, then the sender is in doubt. Either ENGINE ELECT or BODY ELECT sections, one or the other.

I put in a aftermarket gauge to see if the dash one is off...it was by a factor of two.
I get 55 when cold start and it was really 110
Warm it will show 15 but be 30
and hot it will show almost 0 and be 20-25.

I think 20-25 is a little low for my comfort but, it sure is better than zero on the dash.lOl
