oil pressure gauge wiring
I just bought an auto meter cobalt oil pressuer gauge and a oil filter mount. I was wondering what wires to use under the dash to light the gauge. if you chould give me pics or tell my what wires to use that whould be great. I whould like it to light up when I turn on the headlights and not light up when the headlights are off. and if you guys chould tell me what hole in the firewall you used to put the wire for the gauge in that whould be great to.

Well, kinda.
If you start looking around under the dash there are about a million places to easily attach a ground. The place I chose is accessible by removing the panel below the glove box and seemed ideal because it's part of the dash's large round reinforcing bar which is unpainted. Since I had just been in there while deleting the AC it came readily to mind.

Well, I opened my Haynes manual and turned to the wiring diagrams...
At the headlight switch, the R/G wire is the dimmer wire. Connect that to one side of the illumination. Ground to any good ground.
The R/G wire follows anywhere in the dash that has dimmable lights. Logicon, cigar lighter, etc.
To get the wire into the engine bay, poke a small hole in the body harness grommit and fish it through.
To light the headlights withou raising them, see http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/lights.htm

sorry about all of these questions but im new to eletrical wiring. I just looked at the directions and it says that I need a 12V terminal on ignition switch or other switched 12V source what should I use for this?

I wired all mine into the radio harness since it has all of the needed wires, plus I was in the process of putting in a new radio. Look at the wiring diagram (not in front of me) and find which wires you need. There will be a constant 12V, a switched 12V and an illumination wire going to the radio, as well as a ground, though it might be a good idea to use a solid chassis ground for this.

yes I will be makeing a how to or a how I did mine on doing this I just hope that I do it right. the only bad thing is that the threading on the pressure sender is differnt then the oil filter mount. so I have to get a custom reducer made to go from metric to standered.
