Oil pressure?

I just bought this car yesterday, what should be normal oil pressure, i searched and read 10 psi per 1k rpm, ive heard 30 psi on startup an 60 psi while driving and ive heard from 10-110psi is good. The car on start up is about 80 psi, on normal driving it stays right around there, hard driving it almost maxes out. Let it sit for abotu 10 minutes then drive it, it will drop to about 60psi, but normal driving is around 80psi, and hard driving is just below 100psi. The guy i bought the car off of just had to the oil changed before i bought it. There is Havoline 20w50 in it. Ive read 20w50 is the oil to run in it, is havoline a bad oil for this car or is it the filter?

Fixing the radiator leak tonight, so the oil will be tomorrows project, Id mainly like to know if its normal and if not could it be the oil/filter? Also which brand would you recommend while we are on the subject. Thanks in advance.

These cars are notorious for inaccurate gauges. Mine reads exactly like yours does.

It's the gauge sender unit, best to get an aftermarket. As far as oil & filter, most use 20/50 castrol, OEM oil filters are considered very good. Stay away from fram!
Do a search on these subjects, you'll learn tons more.
Good luck with the car, we're here to help!

When you're hitting 80 at idle, tap the sending unit with a screwdriver (mushroom looking thingy below & forward of the oil filter), if she goes down, the sender is fritzed out...

Go figure, new sender and gauge. Mine says 25 psi and maxes out at 50 at 9000 rpm. 10 races on this engine and runs like a top including a 3 hr enduro. Speedsource motor.
