Oil pressure?

I'm currently redoing my 6port turbo build, motor seized, should I be upgrading to a t2 or fd oil pump and install a FD oil regulator since there set for 80psi?

What are the benefits?
Is higher oil pressure inherently better?

Better coiling from what I've read, and I've increase the area where oil is pumped threw aka turbo feed, so just making sure I won't run into issues with n/a components

Incorrect. Placing a fluid under pressure actually makes it warmer, but in this case, that doesn't really matter. Just saying it will not help cool.

As far as pressure...

The oil pump does not create pressure, but rather the things on the other end of it restricting the flow of oil (bearing clearances atc.). It's like putting your thumb over the end of a water hose.

If anything, raising the oil pressure beyond the stock limits just decreases reliability and increases the chance of o-ring/ gasket failure and rupture oil cooler/oil cooler lines.

If anything, the only recommendation I would have is go ahead and use the multi-window bearings from the FD, as this can't hurt anything at all.

I am not turbo'd but I put the TII pump in when I rebuilt mine. Since you are now turbocharged I see no harm in upgrading. The FD pump isn't a direct drop in I don't believe. I stayed with the stock regulator. Thought about the FD one but I think it is actually 90 psi. Only reason to use it may be if you do go with the multi window bearing as I think Racing Beat used to recommend higher oil pressure when running the multi window race main bearings.

Stock FD regulator is 110 psi...

Stock FC is 71 psi.

Racingbeat sells a "street" regulator that's 80-85psi

FD pump will not fit.. FC turbo pump has deeper rotors and pumps more volume ( than the FC NA pump )

/./ both FC engines have a reg set at 72 psi that you need to mod to get higher pressure
( i do a bolt with two nuts into the back end of it,, welding the lowest nut to the reg and using it to thread the bolt so it pushes on the backside of the spring, increasing the set pressure )

90 psi is plenty on the FC engine ( and FC bearings )

as for the oil feed,, you can drill and helicoil the staked bung where the turbo normally feeds from.. or you can tap a fitting into the alum section of your oil filter neck
( or alternatively there is aftermarket spacers that fit under there and provide spare ports )

then put a 1.6 mm restrictor in front of the turbo so that more oil comes forwards to the front stat and shim the front reg ( in front plate ) so that it does not lift first

( it is there to protect oil hoses in view of a restrictive oil cooler ... and may be venting )

avoid using an oil thinner than 20W if your conditions are hot and if your car overfuels a bit

as when old,, and hot,, and forced to idle excessively,, oil pressure can be made to drop below 15 psi at 1000 rpm as it breaks down and thins out

and i find it is this that hurts the front stat the most
( assuming you are no numpty with your fan belt excessively tight )
