Oil Pan Sensors..?

I have two S5 N/A engines... but one has an oil pan that has two sensors in it, the other one just has one?

What is the extra sensor? It's next to the level sensor... small, one wire... kind of looks like the gear position sensor on a transmission... but I'm not inclined to go unscrewing it not knowing how well it's sealed hehe.

Oil temperature sensor for the Sub-zero start assist system. If your car does not have that oil tedmp sensor from the factroy, it ALSO does not have the sub-zero start assist.

The cold start is built onto the intake somewhere right?

I'm thinking since my old block didn't have the sensor at all, I'll leave this one unplugged... until I decide to hook up a guage or something to it. =)

Does anyone think that will cause any problems? Apart from the short-block everything will be from the engine that didn't have the sensor.

It is a switch. Switch as in ON/OFF. It is part of what was said above, the Sub-Zero Start System. It is described in the free online fsm that is linked in this site. The Fuel Section. The very, very last thing in the Fuel Section.

Bob, your acting normal today. Read the fsm when you get around to it. It's not worth reading for this item.

The temp SWITCH in the oil pan told the Sub Zero System when to get off it's butt and take action during startup. The tank was located in the right rear of the engine bay near the charcoal canister. It was suggested to be removed on a factory service bulletin.
