Question OIL PAN GASKET.... any advice?

okay i just recently started to leak oil and it seems like its coming from the oil pan gasket... when i first got the car, i noticed when i first put the car on jacks that the oil had some sort of white silicone or sealer all around the oil pan gasket... so im pretty sure it had some sort of small leak before....

Now that i bought a new one

<a href="http://s573.photobucket.com/albums/ss175/xxpinoysaidhoyxx/?action=view&current=gasket1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss175/xxpinoysaidhoyxx/gasket1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I just want to know if there is any advice you can give me... i know its pretty straight forward and simple, but i just want to know before i even attempt to do it myself... i done a few oil pan replacements on some other cars but i just want to be very careful on what i do with mine LOL

any advice would help =]

We do not use the gasket as it is the source of most leaks. If you take a look in the FSM, there are two procedures, one with, one without.

We prefer to use a high quality RTV (ultra gray, ultra black, "the right stuff") and our oil pan brace. http://banzai-racing.com/store/FC_oil_pan_brace.html

make sure when you put on the oil pan gasket or the brace from banzai( which i recommend) clean all the surfaces really well. Apply a bead of RTV to the pan and the engine where its going to mount, not too much or it will leak again, but make sure you do both sides.

When I pulled my pan I used this method with "the right stuff." It sealed great!

That oil pan baffle goes between the engine and the oil pan. It is usually used in track applications where you might be sustaining high lateral g-forces for a longer than normal time (like a big sweeping turn). It helps to keep the oil from sloshing away from the oil pick-up. It also helps some with foaming of the oil too.
Getting something like that baffle in combination with the banzai oil pan brace makes life easier because you replace the bolts with studs with the banzai brace and makes locating the baffle easier. You would have to put sealant, as talked about above on both mating surfaces, between the pan and baffle, then between baffle and engine.
Just fyi, the banzai brace goes on the outside of the oil pan to help make everything a little more rigid and helps distribute the clamping forces when you tighten down the oil pan.
Good luck.
