Oil Pan Gasket

so i have been having a very small oil seep out of my oil pan. its gotten worse now and it has become a leak. still nothing to worry about, i have plenty of oil to keep it topped off, but i would like to fix it. but i cant seem to find any oil pan gaskets. are they even sold? if not could RTV be used instead?

Atkins sells them... I got mine from them for $15.95

I think you're supposed to use some type of sealant too. When you take the oil pan off, you'll see a sort of caulky looking sealant or something.

I got mine from their Ebay store:

You could buy a roll of gasket paper from the auto store and make one for less than five bucks. That paper plus an exacto knife, ink pen to scribe with and the pan off the engine to use as a templet.

Using care you could just use RTV if the surface were clean and you don't use too much nor too little.

I made a gasket on the last engine using gasket paper and RTV. Before installing the gasket I applied a smear of vaseline on the block surface so that if the pan is removed in the future, the gasket will stick to the pan, not the block, and most llikely be reusable again because it didn't/won't tear.

Pretty good idea with the vasoline. I make 85% of my gasket out of a roll. Though some get a bit too detailed and complex to do so I buy those.

MazdaTrix sells the oilpan gasket. Pretty cheap

You can get one at the dealer for around $15. When you install it, make sure that both mating surfaces are perfectly clean (use brake cleaner) and put a skim coat of RTV sealant on each side of the gasket. Use small washers on the heads of the bolts to distribute the torque evently. These bolts only go to 10 FT-LBs or so.

Funny you said that. I suggested that because I make my own gaskets and people flamed me for being a cheap ***.
