My future race exhaust

once i pass go (aircare) in aprill i plan on getting an exhaust shop making me a long primary exhaust

i will use:
RB streetable collected header (got it )
This saves money if you want a long primary exhaust, cuz a road race header doesn't come with a collector and that sets you back about $60

about 10 feet of 2" piping
Magnaflow 6" round muffler, 27" body 33" overall, 2.5" in/out (just ordered one, will be 5 bus days before i get it)

1.) i will need to cut my header so i can have a collector for the muffler and so that i have dual outlets for the header.

2.) have a exhaust shop madrell bend (i wounder if it would cost more) and weld the 2" tubes

3.) have the shop weld the aux pick up tube somewhere on the exhaust

4.) have the shop mount the muffler

what do you guys think about this setup?

header, dual borla XR1 presilencers, stainless tubing and dual Borla Fc specific mufflers, or N1's or RB's, having a good silencer in the middle of the exhaust system makes the tone, regardles of how crappy the mufflers might be, better ones just sweeten the tone

thanks for the input but thats out of my budget, the borla catback is about $400 cnd and the presilencers are about $100cnd each so it would be close to $600!

i had another setup idea

dual 2-1/4" inlets and a single 2-1/2" outlet
I dont want to do it the other way around because it will be louder

same size 6" round and 27" body

http://i4.tinypic.com/2mhu5uh.jpg

hows exhaust B setup compared to the first one?

in other words, how does using piping to collect compared to using a dual inlet muffler to collect?

also should i use dual 2-1/4" piping or 2"?

no, like this

http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=BCS

reference it to your airpump with an rpm switch and solenoid plus a kill switch in the cabin.

yeah kinda like that. there are two other types that i've seen too. they have electric motors in them so you can open them a bit or all the way.

you're just doing one muffler?

My friend has a repu w/ a s4 6port motor, weber sidedraft
For exhaust he has a RB header and then a 33" long 2.5" magnaflow right in the middle. And then just 2.5" piping out the back.
It sounds AWEEEEEEEEEEEESOME. Probably my favorite sounding n/a street rotary. But I think a lot of the good sound comes from the webers.

So, your setup seems similar. And what are your reasons for long primary? And how much longer?
My idea of a long primary setup is like racing beats streetported exhaust for the first gen where its duals w/ one presilencer per pipe and then collects at the rear axle and has a muffler. Those setups sound pretty good.

hmm, sounds like my mechanic wasn't bs'ing, he said it would sound great and pack a good punch.

He prescribed me this exhaust setup and insisted that a long primary (collector is goes just before the inlet of the muffler, or use a dual inlet muffler as a collector) set up will make more power than a collected header, that i have.

can you make a vid of how your friends REPU sounds? im dieing to hear it.

what RB header did he use? Collected or dual outlet? Where was the muffler placed? right after the header? was his 33" overall length or body? how many inches round?

thanks

i personally dont really like huge 4" tips

i like the look of a tip that has like a 1/4" thick wall, no bigger than 3"

corksport? over magnaflow.

man you got your head up your ***.

the corksport are SS, but theyre loud as ****. I've had too many friends w/ corksports to know to stay the **** awawy from the corksport and SSAC exhaust on ebay.

SS and cheap yes

Sound good? Yea, if you've lost 90% of your hearing.

I personally dont like fart cans, and think the corksport is way too loud.

Magnaflows and borla mufflers are great on rotaries.

His header was a collected REPU specific header. I'll try to find a video.

Honestly, unless you know the length of how long to make your primaries, I wouldn't **** around w/ them. Headers are tuned lengths. You could end up w/ a very funky hp/torque band if you don't get it right.

But you can always check the forum for header primary lengths on the forum. I'm sure someone can help you find some sort of number and some feedback.

And like I said before. A good bit of the sound from the REPU is from the webers, theyre very loud and sound awesome. The exhaust sounds damn good too.

heres a video after his paintjob

Enjoy,
Ben Martin

also loose the split air pipe, if its a "race" exhaust then you have no need for it or your air pump for that matter.

Corksport definately is loud.

But if it bothers you they sell a silencer that screws into the tip for $23.
