oil in oil mertering lines.
hey all i just noticed that the oil in my oil metering lines is going kinda slow. i hooked up the vacuum lines like normal. during the rebuild i just changed the gasket on the oil metering pump, and i did the oil metering line mod for like 20 dollars from the internet. i forgot which write up i used. well anyhow the oil, when i first start it was not there, so i premixed for assurance, but after a while i see oil flowing through all 4 of the lines but at a very very slow rate. and it is no a continuous flow, but a pulsating one. it goes about a quarter of in inch per pulse on all the lines. i was just wondering if this is normal. thank you.

u should only be getting oil through the lines once the car reaches like 3000-3800 rpm or something like that... it is not meant to feed oil the entire time... and it should only be a little bit.. if it was flowing through continuosly and at a fast rate u would run out of oil in a day or so..
remember any oil that gets sprayed is not recycled but burnt and lost...

The metering oil pump feeds the engine at all speeds. It doesn't start feeding at a specific RPM. The FSM even has test procedures to confirm this.
It can take a while for oil to inch up new lines as the flow rate is very slow.

ok but I know it only does it when the throttle is depressed so if the car is idling it wont feed any oil into the lines..
on S4's that have a bar hooked to the linkage I thought the accelerator had to be at WOT to get the bar to open the omp to inject..

The metering oil pump still feeds oil at idle. This is clearly shown in the FSM/Haynes. As long as the engine is rotating, the metering oil pump is feeding oil to the injectors.

Your answer was not helpful because it was wrong. I corrected it. Then you wronged my correction, which I corrected again.
Please don't post misinformation. It confuses people and is entirely unhelpful. If you are unsure, you can always check the manuals before you post.
To the original poster: If you are going to consider premix, there is a good bit of information in the archives on how to do so and the advantages/disadvantages of converting. Personally I feel it's unnecessary and a pain in the butt on a street car. Especially when the engine ran most of it's life on the metering oil pump or was rebuilt with used parts.
