oil metering rod stuck open

I was working on my car when my friend Matt (who is a member of this club) noticed that when my throttle is pulled open past half my oil metering rod doesn't snap back it just sticks open. What effects to my engine will this cause. I'm guessing it's been like this since i bought the car. My oil pressure levels from 30-60 which seems pretty good to me. What do you guys think?

No bad effects to your motor, just adding a little more oil.
But you should find the source of the problem because your mop could be failing.

My car failed the e-test because the rod was stuck.
It was actually the rod on the MOP that was the problem. From under the car I took the spring off and lubricated the mechanism really well, worked it open and closed for about 20 minutes and then put the spring back on. It works like new now.

This weekend, my omp rod got jammed open by a loose connector which also stuck the throttle wide open. Stuck throttle on track = wet pants.

The clutch pedal and the key in your ignition are your friends.

It occured right when I got off the throttle for a slight dab on the brakes and turned in for a fast sweeper...coasting at the turn-in for a fast sweeper is not fun.

Clean the area the rod attaches to the throttle body and metering oil pump. Lots of gunk likes to build up. This area should be dry of all oil as oil will attract dirt and stuff.
