oil metering pump?? is it a must???

ok im putting my engine back together and im stuck at this point. there r some clear hoses going to the lower intake manifold on my 87 na engine and it goes to the injector look alike things. well where the clear plastic lines meet the oil plugs they have broken off. what i need to know is what do these plugs do. and do i HAVE to have them. im sure it will be like 30 bucks per line from mazda if i was to go get it from the plug to the oil metering pump. is ther anyway i can make the line bolt back onto the plug??

Unless you plan to premix (PITA), your OMP and all the oil and vac lines must be in 100% perfect working order or you risk serious engine damage. Get new ones, it's not worth the risk.

To run premix, remove the OMP and block off it's hole.
you're looking for around 100:1 fuel to premix ratio.
Benefits:
-clean up engine bay
-slightly more hp from less parasitic loss of running OMP (1/4hp?)
-can run synthetic, no arguments.
-engine will lubircate better, and make less carbon
Negatives:
-have to remember to put it in EVERY time. forget once. and bye bye motor.
-more expensive b/c you have to buy premix, and a little more preplanning is required.

I bought some 3/32 fuel line(clear) at the hardware store and after cleaning the tit off with alcohol, epoxy'd the line to the ****. Has been working for three months without leaking and its clear line and I see the oil moving in it. Just be careful not to get epoxy in the bores. If I decided to do the oil in the gas tank thing, I think I could take each of the nipples on the oil metering pump and epoxy the bores. I doubt very much if they would leak and that way a blockoff plate would not have to be manufactured. Wadda you think?

the OMP would still be running, and the oil would be backed up behind your epoxy plugs. this would cause more parasitic drag cuz the oil pump would be harder to turn. you could yank it off, and put a block plate in. im sure Ted could tell you about it.

on a S5 motor, if you remove the Omp. itll throw a code, so keep it wired up, just...i dunno, make it so it doesnt work? lol, i sound like such a freakin newbie.
