NM Oil leak from Oil filter area!

Okay so, to my and my mechanic's knowledge: this leak is not from the oil filter itself, but rather...the oil filter housing. That connection to the engine is where this leak is coming from. He couldn't find the gasket on his mechanic program.

I looked on mazdatrix but got rather confused. I guess its just a matter of finding the gasket and replacing it, should be an easy fix but, first got to find the right one.

Probably the two o-rings on the underside of the oil filter pedastal. There are two 10mm nuts (IIRC) on the understide of the pedastal to remove to gain access to the o-rings. Common problem if I interpreted your problem correctly.
Cart Price Check Part:10-1601-9954 (2 o-rings required)

2 O-rings.

Cart Price Check Part:10-1601-9954

you need to order 2 of them not just 1 kit, as they are sold in induvidual o-rings.

you can find alternate numbers here if you also think the mazda price for o-rings is unacceptable as i do.

Ordered. Went with mazdatrix, I don't mind coughing up extra.

just check that the issue isnt just below the pedastel flange,, the block has a dowel in that corner that is used as the pressurised oil feed passage through the engine and it is common on s4 engines to crack the plate here with detonation

Buy or borrow a stubby gear wrench to make the job easier
