not that common, unless someone removed the pedestal and hoped the o-rings would be reusable, which they aren't. as soon as you break the seal, replace them.

Mine usually lasted about 9 years / 120K miles. It is something that I always replace when I buy a used FC, but not something that I would keep in bench stock because they would probably go bad or get lost by the time that I would need them again.

Yeah, my bad. I linked the search string text instead of the search result.

The Google search string is "Oil filter o-ring site:rx7club.com". Here is a link to the search results: Search result

literally NONE of thsoe threads mentions the actual size. they all say the PN or get an assortment.

granted the assortment is kind of a good idea to have around in general, its not quite the answer.

Did you try calling Mazdatrix? They are actually quite helpful.

Anyways, 2 bolts and you could find out yourself.

i actually did. they didnt have the size. i can understand why they wouldnt give that out since they want to make 1000000% profit per o-ring. i just cant stand the idea of paying 15 bucks with shipping for 2 orings.

this is where school and common sense take over.

plug the AS number i provided into google and it gives specific dimensions for the o-ring. the number i gave is a universal o-ring sizing chart number, which of course is listed on my parts bags, not actual dimensions..

https://www.google.com/search?q=As56...sm=93&ie=UTF-8
http://www.mcmaster.com/#9464k27/=q3da1t

keep in mind most online stores are only going to sell in bulk, shipping a single o-ring cost more than the effort pulling it off the shelf. local hardware stores will have the sizes it correlates to. but i do order them by the hundreds, so, that is why i only have the chart number on hand because i just don't worry about sizing anymore.

$5 a piece for those o-rings is just moronic, they're 50 for the same price and in viton which is a more durable material than the OEM nitrile o-rings.

with shipping its still going to cost around $10 for the o-rings if you buy a bag of them

RE you seem to think $5 is a rip off why dont you sell the guy a pair of them, drop 2 in an envelope and let him send you a dollar.

the offer i mentioned in the thread i linked is still valid.

but if he is in a hurry the other links i posted give exact dimensions for standard size o-rings available at just about any of his local hardware stores.

what i did was take a pedestal to a commercial hardware store, got the o-rings, measured them, looked up the part numbers from the store and cross referenced them to come up with the -114 size which fits exactly as OEM.

or the other suggestions work as well, a generic standard o-ring kit is about $10 and gives spares for other things that might be helpful in the future. such as for injector supplemental seals since these top feed rails seal like *** at 10psi+.

reviving this for a sole reason.

NAPA carries these O-rings by AS Dash Number. their prefix is different but the "114" number is referenced on their little assortment of o-rings. they sell them in singles for 60 cents. i bought three because inevitably one is going to fall off and im going to lose it while trying to reinstall the pedestal.

if i can find my receipt ill post the exact part number they use.

BTW the material was just rubber. frankly if it lasts 5 years thats going to be longer or as long as most of us really own the car for. and given the simplicity of this part, its availability and cost i figured id be willing to just take the o-rings in rubber and run with it.
