yes, FRAM filters suck. I took one apart to verify what i read online, and they really do have a shoddy valve and cheap media.

I use NAPA filters. They are rebadged filters from some of the bigger name places, just like NAPA oil is actually pennzoil. They are cheap and work well and easy to find, what more could you want?

$12.99 5 quart + fram oil change special at Autozone? That's what I did. Got my same oil (Castrol 20-w50 GTX Non-synth) but the negative was that you had to get the crappy filter. I feel bad for putting such crap on an otherwise semi-decent car...but whateva'. One fram won't kill it.

I bought a case of the Honda filters. They fit my 2 Odysseys, my '88 'Vert, my Maxima. Works out to $5+ per filter.

I only use K&N Gold oil filter # HP1004, fits both my 2001 Honda Accord and 1991 FC.

From what I read FRAM aka Quakerstate aka Penzoil are the bad ones. The rest are all good. For a premo filter get PureOne, Mobil 1 or AMSoil. All 3 have excellent filtration. The PureOne is a bit restrictive. The AMSoil filter can last a very long time.

I got a bulk deal on Nippon Oil Filters (Mazda OEM source). ~$2-$3 a pop. So I use those. Still got 10 or so left.

And??? If it is good enough for the S2000 and the NSX, it is good enough for me.

The very first time this NSX driver used a FRAM filter it blew. Took only 20 minutes of spirited driving, immediately after the oil change.

Allied Signal, Inc makes Fram filters, which is now a Division of Honeywell.

I usually use PureOne, but I've been known to use Bosch.... When I remember to pre-order, I get OEM.
