Oil drain plug torque

Stupid question, I know, but what is the tightening torque for the oil drain plug on the oil pan? I've been going back and forth in chapter 21 of the FSM, and I can find the torque of the bolts that attach the pan to the engine, but not the stupid drain plug. Why can't they just be like Mitsubishi and put the torque numbers next to the bolts in the diagrams?

I don't suppose "Snug, but not overly tight" helps you much, does it?

My guess is that I usually tighten my oil pan bolts to about 20-30 ft/lbs. Shops regularly use impact wrenches to put them on, so your chances of overtightening it are fairly low - it's an oil pan bolt, not a flywheel bolt. Snug it to contact, then give it another good pull or two, and you should be fine.

Tightening torque: 29-41 N.m = 3.0-4.2 m-kg = 22-30 ft-lb

good guess Syonyk
