oil cooler removal
Yes i searched no one has posted on it.
can i just block off the oil cooler ports on the engine?
The engine is being tested and I dont need an oil cooler for that.If i blocked off the feed and return would it screw up any certain flow to the rest of the engine.
thanks i need to know urgently. thanks.

Since the oil cooler is there for a functional purpose of keeping engine internals cool which can't be reached by the coolent system, i'm going to say you need a line to at least run between the 2 ports... I could be wrong though.

When I had my old one I had to replace my cooler after a rock went through it. I blocked it off for the drive home with some plugs from a little hardware store. MY engine ran really hot. I was glad it was winter and not august in texas, I would have over heated for sure. I eventually jury rigged a oil cooler for a F250 up front and made some adapter lines. ran real cool after that

The only cooling the internal rotor surfaces receive comes from oil. Thus, the oil cooler is responsible for approximately 30% of engine cooling.
Also, if you just plug the holes, you will totally starve the engine of oil since ALL the engine oil flows through the cooler on it's way to the oil gallery.
If you just intend to run the engine for a few minutes, you can bypass the cooler but you'll need to make your own lines to do that.
