I'm not sure on the size of the bolts, but I remember the large one on the block for the top oil cooler line was 27mm ($20 wrench i had to buy) and i think the bolt on top of the oil cooler was 15mm.. not sure on that though. might have been bigger.

The same thing happened to mine, the oil return line was rubbing against the radiator and it didnt just cause a little leak, the thing split and pissed oil all over the place right away.

I'm lucky I didnt blow up my motor.

i just took the oil cooler off my project car last friday and checked the bolt size, i am pretty sure they were 23mm bolts on the hoses. i only got one off they are usually pretty damn tight so have you might need to use a breaker bar, but i didnt try all that hard b/c i had the cooler and hoses off the car when i tried getting the bolts off, it would be easier getting the bolts off while the cooler is on the car. it is a tight fit under the car when the engine and everything is in place and your working on the oil cooler lines, it takes some time so dont get frustrated if it takes a long time. on another rx7 i had it took me like 4 hours atleast to do it, then again it was one of the first projects i ever did on a car.

they might be a 23mm cause the biggest socket i had was 21mm and it was too small. i caught mine before it split the hose in 2. i was driving home and smelled oil. i thought nothing of it first until i got home and saw a line of oil up my drive way to under my car. i think i only lost a 1/2 quart of oil so i think i was pretty lucky i do have a parts car to get the other line out of. just to make sure are the lines out of a s/4 the same as in a s/5?
