Is this the OEM oil pressure sender?

I believe my oil pressure sender is leaking. I have the part in questions circled below. I have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge already, and my gauge on the cluster does not work.

Can I just remove this and plug the hole or put my aftermarket oil pressure sender here?

Also, is it 1/8 NPT thread?

This is not my engine, just some pic I found. Thanks for the help.

Thanks!

Is it ok to remove it? It doesn't do anything else or serve any other purpose?

Anyone know what thread it is?

It's 1/8 BSTT, which has 28 threads per inch instead of the more common 27.
Yes, you can successfully use a standard 1/8 NPT part in that hole.

What really makes the stock part unique- and thus, expensive- is the extended neck it has so it'll clear the water temp sending unit.

Yes, but it is far more likely that the oil pedestal o-rings are leaking. With a little age, the oil pedestal o-rings are about as likely to leak as the oil pan gasket.

Do a search. Its a pain in the butt.

Good Luck!

That is easy to fix. Thanks!

I'll check that out. The engine was fully rebuilt 15K miles ago by MazdaTrix so I assume those o-rings were changed.

The pressure sending unit looks to be original, and the oil appears to be dripping off the large end of the sender itself, onto some wires, then from the wires onto the ground.
