Is OEM Oil Pan Aluminum?

Well, the subject line says it all. Is the OEM oil pan Aluminum or an Alloy such as 5052. I am going to make an adaptor to fit an oil return line to the side of the OEM oil pan and need to know what metal I need to make it out of so I can have it attached properly. I planned to get a 12x12in sheet of 5052 Aluminum since it has good welding properties. Would that work?

Thanks

It's not aluminum. Atleast mines not, because it will rust. Paint your oil pan, or keep it oiled.

Try a magnet. It's metal.
