OEM Oil filter no's

There are 2 part no's for the OEM FC oil filter

N3Y6-14-302 about $4

B6Y1-14-302 about $7

Does anybody know what the difference is?

The N3Y6-14-302 seems to be made by a company in japan and is the part number that's listed on Japanese websites.

So.. what is the B6Y1-14-302 all about? What size is it compared to the N3Y6-14-302

From what I can see:
N3Y6 14 302 is 2.76" high and 3.15" od
B6Y1 14 302 is 2.56" high and 2.68" od
The factory Mazda filter I have is:
B6Y2 14 302 which seems to be the same as the B6Y1 filter
I believe all Mazda filters are the same except for the size. Can't tell you anymore.

Oh okay... Err.. I made a mistake with the price quotes it should be the other way around

N3Y6-14-302 about $7

B6Y1-14-302 about $4

Do you think it would make a difference if I used either one? The N3Y6 is a bigger filter for sure and it's $3 more expensive but the B6Y1 is a part number used in many dealerships even in Japan.....

I guess there wont be much of a benefit to use either one... except one is slightly smaller and cheaper with that false sense that it is better quality since it's made in Japan.

do you know anything about B6Y0 14 302 filters?

B6Y0 14 302 Looks to be the same dimension as N3Y6 14 302.

The Miata guys did a comparison with the oil filter (they use the same one we do) and put up the results:
