Are you maybe talking about the compression that builds and causes resistance when turning the eccentric shaft? Try turning it with no spark plugs in it. Also make sure eccentric shaft endplay is within spec.
Can you contact the engine builder or did you buy the engine from a third party?

Then you did it wrong.. Did you follow a video or something? The videos usually tell you how to set the endplay pretty accurately.
I don't think its possible to get the rotors NOT straight..... They only go one way..... and can't wiggle really.... Sounds like end play to me.... not sure what else you could **** up so badly that it would do this.
Maybe you could describe the problem more clear? I think thats the biggest problem with this post.

So, you turn the engine by the flywheel... and it'll turn over.... but when you let go, it spins the other way?
Rotaries have nothing called a crank. Im assuming you mean the eccentric shaft.
Still don't really understand your problem.

A few words before the thread is closed...
Remove the front cover and all components (spacers, oil pump, needle bearings, etc.) up to the front housing (don't touch the tension bolts yet). Take lots of low-resolution pictures.
I believe the problem lies somewhere there, unless of course the flywheel is not on straight. I presume the flywheel is moving in and out relative to the rear housing. It is turning parallel, but moving in and out, right? The eccentric shaft nut at the flywheel is torqued also? If that's o.k., then the problem must lie within the front cover.
If all else fails, you have to open her up and see if some bearing (if you replaced any) or component is off.

i found out what the problem was the counter weight was hitting the front cover. im using rx8 internals and i saw that the rx8 counter weight is just a little bit bigger than the s4 weight
