O2 sensor?

Well there I was trying to find the cause of bad idle. When I look down at the O2 sensor, it's wire was tucked behind my engine. Yup not hooked up at all. So now I have to find the other end. I have looked many times and found nothing. Can someone tell me were the O2 sensor wire normally routes in the engine compartment. PLEASE. I have also looked through my haynes manual, which turned out to be a waste of time. I would really like to fix this problem, so if some one could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

From the main harness the wraps around the passenger side of the engine, behind the filler neck, you should see a single "black" wire. That IS the wire for the O2.

O2 sensor is out of the loop at idle. Sorry 'bout that. The wire on the sensor goes to a connector and its wire which run under the intake, goes to the drivers side of the engine, routes around the front of the engine, crosses over to the passenger side fender, goes aft and enters the crew compartment. and ends up at pin 2D of the ECU that is under the rug about where the ***** of the passengers feet are. Its the middle plug. With the plug connected and looking towards the ECU, pin 2D is on the bottom row, second one from the left.

I found the wire but it is brown not black. Why? Different engine harness? I don't know.

It is totally freaking me out. What has happened to my car? What has some one done? It looks pretty "mickey mouse" to me.

The original 02 wire is supposed to be grey. It should be a shielded wire. The inner conductor probably is black, I forget if I ever knew. The shield terminates about six inches from the 2D, ECU pin. Where it enters the ECU, it is black, I believe. Oh. The grey wire turns brown over the years. Your car sounds normal to me.

if you are crimping a new O2 sensor on there (on the braided side) make sure the braid is NOT touching the inner wire or connector or it will not work properly.
