Make absolutely sure if you remove the shaft to plug the little oil passage holes. Otherwise you'll lose a lot of oil pressure as it just blows out under the front cover.

If the engine is apart, I'd say to CAREFULLY tap the front iron instead of the front cover and install the grub screw there. CAREFULLY tap so you don't crack. That way you don't rely on the gasket to hold any pressure.

when people are doing the omp removal for premix purpose and the engine is stil in the car , does its correct to simply put an b.o.p with 2or3 10cent to stop the shaft movement?

Does its the safer way to proceed if i want to premix or there other way to consider?

thank aaron i like the way u help and educate peoples here.

Just install a blockoff plate in place of the metering oil pump. If you are going to place something in there to stop the shaft from walking, then use a brass or bronze disc (which you will probably have to cut from a rod as I don't know anywhere off hand to buy such a disc).

I removed the gear from the shaft and left the shaft itself in place. No oil pressure issues.

I actually just removed the shaft and didn't do anything else... not sure why I didn't think that through... but I still get tons of oil pressure at idle so I guess it's not too bad... As long as you don't have carb jets in your e-shaft like aaroncake it's probably not a problem. but neither is having the shaft there to begin with...

i used a spare omp shaft cut to good dimension to stop the shaft from walking in an out.
