What causes a rich mixture? How can you tell if the car has switch from open to closed loop. Wouldn't it be better if you place a hose from the split air hose to the Air silencer connection of the ACV, because there's more air coming out and it varies when you decrease or increase speed. Could it be possible that Carbon build up blocked the split air hose port and not a lot of air can go through?

I just did my emissions...

No EGR. Yep. Took it off. New cats. New fuel injectors. Heres my numbers:

HC: 0.52 out of 1.60 max
CO: 4.86 out of 15.00 max
NOX: 0.80 out of 2.50 max

Theres no substitute for a good running engine!

yes, the EGR is quite over-rated.

Theres no substitute for a good running engine!
I would say there is no substitute for a WELL-TUNED good running engine.

Dumb Kid?

Well here I am the proud new papa to my first rotary. Thank god I didn't do a whole lotta research befor I bought it otherwise I might have been put off buying such a fun car.
so let me get this straight? (multi part question)
Some RX owners remove thier emmisions stuff for what reason? Improved performance I'm assuming? Does it do any thing for fuel econemy?(you can stop laughing now).
then come emissions testing time they have to put it all back on or hope the methylhydrate trick works(I personaly love this stuff).
Isn't it a lot of hassel for what it's worth?
how much of a performance improvement on a N/A can be made by removing this stuff afterall?

You'll pass so bad it'll be funny.
Dump a bottle of rubbing alcohol in the fuel? Does it work on 1st gen? Will the alcohol harm the carb or dilute the oil in the rotor housing?

I might have to try this method for my 1st gen.

Yah DC350, We've got Scair-care here; and I'm not so sure I wan't to start messing with emmisions stuff yet...
I'm about as new to rotary wizardry as they come (4 days by my last count).
I can mechanicaly do anything with a normal 4 stroke; but these spinny motors are confusing me so far? Thank God I havent had to fix anything.

OK now any body,
Supposing I did want to rip it all out. what should go and what shoud stay, and why.
thanks.

Only the catalytic convertor removal adds up hp. the rest would add maybe 0.5 hp. It is mostly for simplicity under the hood that it is removed.

I'm reading this and laughing my *** off. off all the shops that told me yea we work on rx7's all the time and they manage to break more then they fix. You are saying these people actualy now what an airpump is on are cars. I'm willing to bet you could get up in there while they are testing your car and feed them a bunch of bul **** and they should belive it. and what they don't most people will for 40 bucks. Thats how I passed
