not loud enough

i just got 2 mufflers installed and i tought it was going to be loud but it wasnt its almost the same. i want my car to be louder and im thinking of taking off the cats. mine looks like it 2 cats is that right? I heard that if i take them off the 5th/6th ports wont open but what if i take only 1 off. The thing that s bothering me the most is that it doesnt sound like a rotaty, it sounds like any other honda or acura. i want it to sound like a rotary if u know what i mean. I have also heard something about bridgeport and that it make ur car soung real nice but im not really sure what thats about so i need some clarification on that too. I kned ideas on how to make my car sound like a rotary and also louder.

louder = cops pull you over

pulling your cats = failed emissions inspection

bridgeport = increasing the size of the intake ports in the engine and adding an additional port. Requires disassembling the engine. Do a search in PORTING. You will find plenty of info on it. In fact, one of the threads that are permanently posted in the forum is a FAQ and I'm sure porting is covered in there. It should give you links to pictures too.

You can pass just fine with no precats.

Yes it will be louder, you may or may not have a problem with your aux port actuation depending on the rest of your exhaust (assuming you have an s4), and yes it'll sound more like a "rotary"

A header will eliminate the precat.

I find my CorkSport Catback too loud. I have to use the silencer to drive on the street if I dont want to get pulled over. http://ca.geocities.com/nosaj13b/CorkSport.mp3 Sorry for the crappy sound quality.

Ported exhaust with removed diffuser
RB header
2.5" test pipe
2.5" y-pipe and 2.5" piping
Dual BOMZ GT Style ebay mufflers

Now the ebay mufflers pretty much got blown out from what I can tell, doesn't seem like they were doing much muffling haha.

headers

if you want it to sound loud you will like it at first . once you drive around a few months even a year you will still be in love with the sound but also remeber these rotaries give you something no other car can and that is a big *** headache . but i say go for it , its the sexiest sound you will ever hear. do what my brother did to his 88GTU , he put racing beat headers (roadrace type) and ran 2 pipes all the way to the rear mufflers with no silencers it was loud but it sounded great and everyone in our condominium complex HATED him cause he use to crank that **** up at 5:30am . he also did the same exact setup once he did the 1st gen turbo ,downpipe all the way to the apexN1 muffler he loved it but everone else hated it not to mention he was always getting pulled over by cops or cops would follow him for miles just to **** with him cause both his cars were extremely loud.
and last but no least he and i ALWAYS had ******* headaches you would not believe .ALWAYS . if neigbors dont mind, cops wont **** with you,and you dont care about permanent headaches then go for it you WILL love the rotary sound but there are prices to pay . you've been warned
i choose the quite route these days but i still miss my big street ported motor with
weber 48 carb that had the meanest idle . and it was headers straight back , the only thing bad was that it was my daily driver , and after 2 years it took its toll on my health . (headaches from exhaust.couldnt breathe from fumes, and nausea from the unsprung clutch and heavy duty pressure plate .) i would do it ALL over again but not as a daily driver . good luck with your quest for noise you will enjoy . just go all out !!!!!!

If you want a little more volume you can always just take the mufflers off, usin the cats to keep the volume tolerable. I went for 3 months with gutted cats and stright pipe behind it, and it was fun, but eventually I realised it was just too loud, and only a matter of time before I got pulled over for it. I decided to try a pair of glass packs, and I've never heard a sweeter sounding exaust for this car. I've got video of this setup if you'd like to hear it, if you want some volume without being too loud it's the way to go (and not very expensive either).
