Is this normal for a new clutch?
Hey everyone, i just got my car back from one bastard *** shop that does terrible work and takes like an extra week (urrgggg), well anyways, i just got my car back from getting the clutch put in, and i seem to smell the clutch almost "burning" when i engauge, yes, im being very careful with it. the clutch i have is a Clutchmasters Stage Two, and the engaugement is like almost right off the floor and last only like the first two inches (yes, its a bitch to get used to). you think im just riding it too much? im trying not to at all. oh, and another thing, when the clutch is in about 1in (from the top) you can here a little "chirp chirp" kinda noise until another inch down, thats going in or out, ... is this normal? thanks everyone, i would rather not have to take it back in their shop again. oh.... they said something about the slave cylinder looked a little "fishy"... you think that could cause any of these problems?.. sorry for all the whining, i just have been waiting for this thing like a week when it was supposed to take a day, ne ways, take care and sorry so long

When I got my new clutch put in (C.A.P. Stage II) it smelled funny for about a day or three. A buddy said this is it just breaking in. The chirp noise sounds like your flywheel. Did they resurface it when they replaced the clutch? Probally not...

thanks bro...
They resurfaced it, im sure of it, i saw it...... a freind told me it might be the "Throw-out bearing" or something, and that it will do that during break in.. oh well, we will see, i just put about 40 miles on it, easy miles in the city, and i hope its just me getting used to it, but it seems easier and "softer".. oh well, we will see. Thanks man, any one else want to add?

I just installed a new factory clutch...no smell...no chirping. I'm not sure how the fork and TO bearing could be misaligned. The TO bearing slide onto the end of the fork and then just slides on the input shaft...you don't have to do anything to align it. In fact....the TO bearing can't be misaligned because it slides on the input shaft there is no way it could move side to side. I suppose it would be possible to get one side of the fork out of the TO bearing if you were a total idiot when you reassembled. I'd get another opinion.
