is this normal

when i am out for a nice spirited drive (LEADFOOT!!!) whenever i push close to redline, say about 7500 and i hit my next gear i get a nice and very large white cloud and a big backfire. is it normal for this to happen. in addition my cat is separated from the Y-pipe so the exhaust ends there pretty much, and also it is only a single cat about a foot long, somekind of aftermarket i'm guessing. a full exhaust is on the to do list but unfortunately there are a few other things that are a little higher on the list. so with all that said am i running normally or is something out of whack?

if you have the stock ecu the car is supposed to running dump rich in the high rpms... without the pre-kat you get some nice backfires / flames... the white smoke is because the rich A/F ratio...

its normal if the car is only smoking white if you push it hard in high rpm
