noob status: cannot get Trans on car...
Alright. Just installed a new engine, and cannot get the Trans on?!?
Installed new pilot bearing, old clutch from last engine, olds Trans from last engine, old flywheel from last engine.
I've loosened the motor mounts, Trans is supportEd by a jack and I cannot get it to go on the last 2 inches. No obstructions that I can see.
My worry is that my flywheel isn't tight enough, I followed racing beats instruction on their huge breaker bar but its still on my mind.
Shoot me ideas if you have any. Really want to bring this FC to seven stock,.and not my wifes Miata lol

Attach the driveshaft and rotate it to line up the splines on the input shaft/clutch. You won't be able to see it, just wiggle it a little as you push the trans and engine together.

to make life easier in the future, grab the starter long bolt and the transmission bolt under the starter, use those as guide bolts through the bellhousing to the block, this will somewhat ensure the transmission is guided straight onto the engine.

I always heard doing that could pull out the threads, so I've never done that lol
maybe if you are a 800lb gorilla and throwing the tranny around instead of pushing it toward the engine.
i have never stripped a bellhousing thread on the block, i have seen a few people manage to break the ear just under the oil filter pedestal but i never use that one for a guide location, probably due to overtightening the bolts with an impact gun anyways..
you aren't using the bolts to draw the tranny to the engine, the bolts are much longer than they need to be even without the transmission touching the engine at all, think of them like rails to slide the tranny on straight to the engine, there will be some leighway in straightness though because the transmission can still be jacked up too high or sagging in the rear.

He didn't mean use those bolts to tighten it and squish it together. That obviously is a terrible idea. Regardless you got it done. Good job.
