86 gxl cutout!!:(

ok so I bought an 86 gxl it has 67k original miles on it for $400.. I kno its awesome but the car was sitting for 18 years I got it running new fuel tank full tune up, ECT... ok so my problem is when I start the car it does fine but after it warms up or It goes past 3k rpms a couple of times it starts cutting out like its not getting fuel at any rpm 2k or higher, but I can shut the car off going down the road turn the key back on and bam for a minute it does fine. I have two ecu's that ive tested and both do the same but one is worse than the other.. anybody know what this may be? ive checked the forms and found nothing just asking before buying a new ecu!

Besides the AFM also test the Pressure Sensor.

I had the same issue a couple weeks ago. The car would turn on, idle and everything, but once i got up to 3,800rpms it would hesitate like It was lacking in fuel... it turned out to be that i had a grounding issue. The secondary injectors kick in around 3,400 and that may be your problem. I got all the grounds directly from the ecu and re-gounded them to one of the bolts that hold down the ecu to make sure i would never have this problem again!! This should take you less then 30min and prob less then $10 buying some wiretaps, a roll of wire, and some round ground terminals to ground it back to one of the bolts that hold down the ecu.

When you took out the rats nest, you probably messed up the ground on the rear rotor housing. Make sure it's tight, and the engine has a ground strap from the bay somewhere.

it was happening before the rats nest removal I just removed it to clean up a bit..I cleaned the ecu ground and all the others their clean and tight! the problem happens at anywhere above 2k.. and when I restart the car it goes away for a minute.. ill test the pressure sensor and see what happens..
